Movement 36 | Grand Flavour | Chad Jackson...

The team at Grand Flavour recently approached me to shoot an ad for the latest Issue of Movement with  team rider Chad Jackson. We had limited time to shoot the ad, in fact only a matter of hours as the deadline for the magazine was the following day. 

Chad and I had already nailed an epic invert shot (as below) from a few weeks prior, so all we had to do was shoot the portrait. Easier said than done, especially when you have to shoot a Winter campaign when the temperature is still 30 degrees plus.

The GF creative team had an idea of what they wanted, Chad and I just needed to make it happen. So we put our heads together, grabbed a hose, a portable dual flash set-up, a worthy assistant and a bit of trial and error and came up with the goods!

I was really happy with how the shot came out, especially with the pressure we were under. the lens flair that you see on the portrait was completely natural and I think it adds a little something to the image.

... also featured in Issue 36 of Movement Mag, is the below Billabong Ad of Mitch Rawlins! The most amazing thing about this image and the previous post of Jake Stone, is that the 2 photos were taken less than 1 minute apart! If only all my shoots were this productive!

... Open up the latest issue of Movement Bodyboard Magazine (36) and on the inside cover you will see an image that VS Bodyboards have used for an ad! I love getting to shoot with Jake Stone, he's as unpredictable in the water as he is out of it! Check it out!

Twice as Nice...

... the new Movement Mag has hit the shelves and within it you'll find not one, but two ads of Ryan Hardy using my images. Two of his biggest supporters in VS bodyboards and Creatures Surf Accessories chose images of mine for print! Stoked!

Found/Riptide...

...I teamed up with Mitch from Found Boards for this latest advertisement in Riptide Issue #177. These images were taken on one of the best full days of surf I have ever seen, expect to see more of Mitch and others from this session in print and on the blog very soon!

Rip Curl, Scarborough...

... have used an image of mine to create a pretty impressive light box in store. So if you're down that way, pop in and witness something extremely rare, Scarborough actually looking like an insane place to surf!

Hardy/Void...

Void Wetsuits loved this shot so much, they used it as an ad in Riptide #176. The reason I love the shot, is that on this day, up until this point, I was so worried about stuffing up photos of some of the most intense surfing I have ever seen, that I was stressed beyond belief. But this simple gesture from Ryan as he paddle back out over the shoulder reminded me why we go on trips like this. Sure you have to get the job done, but if you're not enjoying yourself, it's not worth doing. Turns out this was my most successful shoot, EVER!

Reeflex/Riptide...

Below is the latest Reeflex Wetsuit ad that you will see in Riptide Issue #176. Getting up at 4 am for a shoot is never easy, but trying something different is always fun! Chad, Lewy, George, and Jarker all pitched in to get the job done, leaving design whizz Shannon to piece it altogether. Hughesy helped out on the flash and managed to "photo bomb" the odd shot!! Thanks fellas!
